The Victorian Water Treatment Facility in Melbourne provides clean and purified water for the city and its surrounding region. Before distribution, the water is filtered and disinfected to remove impurities.
To continue delivering clean, safe, and reliable water in the future, the Victorian Water Treatment Facility has been expanded with an additional UV disinfection plant. AVK Industrial was awarded the contract for the supply of fifteen DN1200 stainless steel Repico® pipe couplings and butterfly valves for this expansion.
InterApp Desponia Butterfly Valves
For this installation, AVK Industrial used Desponia centric butterfly valves, manufactured by InterApp Spain, a division of the AVK Group. With over 50 years of experience, InterApp is an international supplier of solutions for the most-demanding applications and projects with PTFE-lined and elastomer-lined butterfly valves. The manually operated butterfly valves are equipped with Rotork gearboxes, while the automated valves are fitted with Limitorque actuators, provided by Acrodyne. All valves undergo extensive factory acceptance testing (FAT) to guarantee their compliance with high quality standards.

Repico® Slip Double Force Couplings
The fifteen DN1200 SS Repico® pipe couplings, Slip Double Force type, were manufactured in the modern production facility of AVK Industrial Nederland (formerly AVK REWAG), a knowledge center specializing in stainless steel products. The production facility draws upon over 40 years of expertise, with products delivered to more than 50 countries by skilled and dedicated professionals.
Repico® couplings are the ideal choice for applications requiring robust, durable, and leak-free connections for large diameters. The Repico® Slip couplings, featuring progressive sealing technology, are not rigid, allowing for flexible, leak-free connections that can absorb shrinkage and expansion within the pipeline. Repico® couplings stand out due to their flexibility and ease of installation, even in tight spaces, while effortlessly compensating for slight pipeline deviations — thereby helping to improve the lifespan and reliability of the entire installation.
Smooth Execution and Precise Coordination
AVK Industrial Australia closely teamed up with the John Holland Group to arrive at the most appropriate technical solution for this project. This collaboration contributed to the delivery of a robust and future-proof water treatment plant. The coordination from AVK Industrial was led by Royce Paul, Business Development Manager VIC. It was a rewarding project for both the client and for AVK Industrial.
